Caspar 2020 from Rhoda

My long vision I created today already goes with me now as I greet friends, make phone calls and visit with fellow artists. This process already works as I see Liz H. and Alison Gardner as allied potters who will help Judy and I make High Doggie Dinners. My anxiety of keeping up with orders is gone. My sense of competition is gone as I realize my need for local help. I see myself making pottery in downtown Caspar using local clay and trading it for local food goods or services.

I just shared my vision of diversity with  two musicians from Ghana who have visited the Coast. One has settled here to raise a family already and has created a local business: the other is dreaming of settling in Caspar, too.
This process of back casting goes along with my belief that if the word comes out of our mouths it manifests itself. The power of the word.
We sent out 300-350 postcards and emailed our lists 3 times.  I put it out on 3 radio stations and two newspapers and put up a few posters. The theory is that in direct mailing you get 4% return. We got more. We got 14 to 17 people at the end of the day.

 Opportunities

  • We have the opportunity to slow down,
  • to stay here in town more
  • to have more personal time here.
  • to grow more of our food here
  • to enjoy the DARK NIGHT SKY HERE
  • to have our kids return and for them to teach other kids here
  • to become authentic here
  • to create goods and services
  • to have our kids teach the younger kids all the arts and to perform them
  • at our center, to display them at our gallery and to mount them along our
  • highways and our paths.,
  • to create local jobs
  • to create enterprise
  • to live sustainably on this planet so we can be a model and share with our
  • network on this planet as we aren't alone
  • THE GLOBALIZATION OF LOCALIZATION
  • to coin our own silver coins. CASPAR COINS.
  • TO CREATE CO-OPS OF ENERGY AND FOOD
  • TO USE THE BEST OF OLD TOWN AND APPROPRIATE OLD TECHNOLOGY
  • TO PRESERVE ABUNDANCE RATHER THAN CREATE DEPENDENCY
  • TO CENTRALIZE OUR WEALTH INTO LOCAL INVESTMENTTS
  • TO ENCOURAGE DIVERSTIY
  • to make loan packets. investing our money here and you get Caspar coin to
  • spend it here on local needs
  • to create land trusts
  • to transport ourselves across town on rails or with solar cars
  • to be umbrellas for other urban green projects and be their lab rats
  • to create communal septic createing methane fertilizer and gas for fuel
  • to use our national reputation to help others
  • to become a green village
  • to keep our town the same.
  • TO KEEP IT THE SAME IT HAS TO CHANGE.
  • to heal ourselves
  • to create goods and services
  • to create learning. We are a brain trust. We are the most highly educated
  • town in the USA
  • to link information
  • to tap local wealth from our retirement funds
  • to use our national resources
  • to mine our brain trust
  • to work together with consensus

We gave our permission for the notes to be posted on the web and to be printed in the Caspar Community Newsletter.

Caspar shows a strong trust in individuality. There is hard work put into our ideas for the larger good. There was joyfulness in today's process and we had a relaxing and lovely time together. EVERYBODY spoke at least once!

The ideas that come up here that didn't in other places were that we are a 'commons' that we hold consensus valuable and our alone time dear to us. That the land belongs to no one. We are guests on the land.

I am so thrilled by this outcome and can feel the back casting already working for me and my neighbors.
